It’s Time to Implement Health Care Reform in Your Business.

No other piece of legislation in the past decade will impact your business more significantly than the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA) enacted by Congress in 2010. Based on the implementation schedule, now is the time for businesses, across the U.S., to dive into learning about all of the changes that will impact your business.

To help you with the learning process, the MBPA is pleased to provide a brand new service to help small businesses navigate the very complex and constantly changing world of Health Care Reform. As a business, you will face many decisions and are now required to comply with new reporting requirements such as new W-2 wage and benefits rules and providing new benefits documentation to employees. Likewise, tax penalties, tax credits, health benefit plans and how you provide insurance to your employees are most likely going to change in the coming year(s).

As part of this new service, the MBPA will be providing you with the latest information from expert attorneys, CPA’s and reform advisors. Because we are a politically astute organization, we will keep you abreast of each new development as state officials begin determining Michigan’s role in PPACA and making decisions about the creation of a Michigan Insurance Exchange.

Especially important, the MBPA will provide not only accurate, up to date information for your business, but will also provide a vast array of tools and resources that not only offer solutions for your compliance requirements but also assist your decision making. In addition to this newsletter, MBPA will be providing additional tools, resources, customized information and expertise. You will find links to these services in this publication. Members will also have access to compliance tools and services that you can only get through membership.

Throughout the PPACA implementation, the MBPA team is available to provide custom answers to your specific compliance questions through the member email hotline. We are also available to meet with your company/agency in order to clarify the specific details that will impact your company the most. Members are encouraged to use any and all of the compliance tools and solutions available through the MBPA and your independent agent.

The MBPA legislative team continues to work relentlessly on your behalf and to represent your interests both in Lansing and in Washington. We look forward to Making Your Business Better by providing business knowledge and tangible solutions to help you navigate this complex piece of legislation.
